Caerphilly County Borough Council’s IT Service has been awarded a prestigious national award.

Council officers were awarded the ‘NSG Best In Region’ award at the 2011 National Gazetteer Exemplar Awards at the Royal Albert Hall in Nottingham earlier this month.

Caerphilly County Borough Council received the ‘Best in Wales’ award for the quality of data it submits to the NSG (National Street Gazetteer) and for being ‘exceptional amongst its peers’.

Cllr Colin Mann, deputy leader of the Council said: “I am delighted that officers from our IT Service have received this prestigious national award.

“They have invested time and effort in creating and continually improving processes in this field, and they have made and achieved a real commitment to improving both the accuracy and quality of the data submitted to the National Gazetteer on behalf of Caerphilly County Borough Council.

“A fantastic achievement, which has really helped put Caerphilly County Borough on a pedestal amongst its peers – well done.”
