Former Welsh Secretary Ron Davies is expected to stand in Caerphilly for Plaid Cymru in next year’s Welsh Assembly election, reports BBC Wales.
It is understood the former Labour MP for the constituency is the only candidate seeking nomination from the party.
Caerphilly Observer also understands that an official announcement is due soon.
The move was widely expected after Davies’s Forward Wales party was disbanded and his open support for Plaid Cymru’s Lindsay Whittle during this year’s general election.
Mr Davies made his political comeback in May 2008 with election to Caerphilly County Borough Council representing Bedwas, Trethomas and Machen as an Independent councillor.
He currently holds the position of cabinet member for regeneration and countryside on the local authority.
