News | Richard Gurner | Published: 13:05, Thursday November 24th, 2011.

Coleg Gwent has been announced as Welsh winners of a manufacturing award at a ceremony recognising innovation and excellence in the industry.

The award for best Welsh college was presented to Coleg Gwent by the Employers Engineering Federation (EEF) for outstanding delivery of Pathways Apprenticeship programmes.

Crosskeys Campus Engineering section has seen an impressive 83% success rate in 2010/11, in their Pathway to Apprenticeship programme for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering students gaining full apprenticeships in local companies, significantly higher than the national average of 62% across Wales.

“It’s a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work of staff and students,” said Head of School for Engineering at Coleg Gwent’s Crosskeys Campus, Dave Adams.

“We’re committed to encouraging Apprentices and helping them achieve their potential, and our record speaks for itself. We’re very proud to have our success recognised in this way.”
