Young historians at Maescywmmer Primary School recently welcomed Islwyn MP Chris Evans to learn about Henry VIII at a special Tudors themed assembly.
Parents and visitors to the school were treated to a short history of Henry VIII, and his many wives, by Year 4 and 5 students.
Speaking after congratulating the pupils on their performance, Mr Evans said: “As a history graduate I have always had an interest in Henry VIII and the pupils’ assembly was fantastic.
“It is really important that young people have an interest in history and thanks to the students assembly I am sure everyone in the school has learnt a lot about Henry VIII.
“I would like to pay tribute to all the pupils and the staff involved with putting on the performance.”
