UPDATE: Pollution Clears on River Ebbw

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 16:09, Thursday December 8th, 2011.

Environment Agency Wales biologists have confirmed there have been no lasting effects from the pollution incident on the River Ebbw earlier this week.

An industrial adhesive spill at a site on the Rassau Industrial Estate on Tuesday caused a white slick roughly two kilometres long. The substance was spilt into the Rassau Brook and then moved through the Nant Melyn to the River Ebbw.
Agency biologists investigated the spill’s impact on aquatic life.

Ashley Lansdown of Environment Agency Wales said: “We are pleased to say that there has been no lasting environmental or visual impact following the incident.

“The high flow of the river has helped in dispersing the spill which has now cleared completely.

“Early reports help us to minimise the impact of pollution on the environment. If you see any pollution, please call our Incident Hotline on 0800 80 70 60.”
