Cyclists and walkers will soon be able to enjoy better access to the countryside when a new bridge is opened at Argoed.
Construction for the new bridge started in September 2011 and is due to be completed in February 2012.
The bridge will provide a missing link on the National Cycle Route 467 between Blackwood and Hollybush.
The scheme, by charity Sustrans and Caerphilly County Borough Council, is being funded by Valleys Regional Parks and will allow walkers and cyclists to avoid a rural road.
When it is finished it is hoped that the Valleys Cycle Network will provide people with an attractive alternative to car journeys, cutting local congestion, reducing carbon emissions and helping people to travel in healthy ways.
It will link to parts of the National Cycle Network that are already popular such as the Taff Trail and the Celtic Trail as well as linking up towns, shops, visitor attractions and country parks, and improving access to large employers.
