Principality announces new branches in Bargoed and Treharris

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 17:00, Monday October 18th, 2010.

The Principality Building Society has announced plans to open in Bargoed and Treharris.

The new branches are part of an expansion which will see it open in Newcastle Emlyn, Abertillery, Ystradgynlais, Ross-on-Wye, Talbot Green, Caernarfon and Colwyn Bay.

The expansion, scheduled for during the fourth quarter of 2010, will take the total number of Principality outlets to 65.

Graeme Yorston, Chief Operating Officer at Principality, said: “Acquiring these agencies presents a unique opportunity for us to introduce our strong brand to new territories, enabling us to bridge the gaps in our existing branch network and deliver Principality products and services to a wider audience across Wales.

“Whilst a number of financial institutions have opted to cut costs by withdrawing from local high streets, we have decided that now is the time to invest in our retail network to get closer to our communities and engage with customers on a personal level.

“By establishing a physical presence in the local communities that have had their financial independence taken away by the recent agency closures, we hope to protect Welsh consumers and provide accessible financial services to those who really need it.”
