Social media business skills workshop being held at the University of Glamorgan

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 21:53, Monday October 25th, 2010.

A workshop hosted by Software Alliance Wales, a £13million pan-Wales programme led by Swansea University, will be held at the University of Glamorgan’s Ty Crawshay building on Tuesday October 26 from 5.15pm to 7pm.

The event titled ‘Demystifying Web Marketing – An insight into social media for SMEs’ is one of a range of workshop being held for businesses by the Software Alliance Wales.

The workshop will feature an informative session from Software Alliance Wales’ business liaison officer, Jaime Hindle who will be drawing on 13 years experience working in both B2B and B2C marketing.

Jaime will advise delegates on how social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube can be effectively used alongside regular marketing and communication operations to achieve their business goals.

Professor Andrew Ware, Head of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at University of Glamorgan, said: “Social media is without doubt one of the fastest evolving mechanics of modern day business. Some businesses may have already flirted with aspects of social networking and social media, but very few are truly comfortable with the potential that it has for their business.

“This workshop aims to eliminate the myths of social media and to educate businesses how to get the true potential from this extremely effective marketing and communication tool.”
