A new advertising campaign aimed at changing perceptions about age has been launched.

Adverts featuring pictures of people from across Caerphilly County Borough adorn the sides of buses up and down the area.

Caerphilly County Borough Council wants to find out how many people have spotted the adverts and are asking residents to take a picture of the ad when they see it and send it to 50plus@caerphilly.gov.uk

One picture will be chosen at random at the end of November and the sender will receive a prize.

The council will also post the images on the ‘Age is just a number!’ Flickr account.

Councillor Colin Hobbs, cabinet member and older people’s champion, said: “We hope in time these really positive images will begin to break down some of the negative stereotypes people have of older and younger people.”

The campaign is a joint project between the 50+ Positive Action and the Safer Caerphilly Community Safety Partnership and has been funded by the Welsh Assembly Government’s Older People’s Reassurance scheme.
