A new not-for-profit tourism company is offering ecological, science-based tours around wildlife hotspots in Caerphilly County Borough
The company, called Eco-explore, has been set up with help from Caerffili Cwm a Mynydd Tourism and Recreation Advancement Funds.
Dr Alex Pollard, from Eco-explore, said: “We set up Eco-explore to allow people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in conservation.
“Eco-explore’s tours and events are set in the stunning Welsh countryside around Caerphilly county borough and reflect the amazing biodiversity of this dramatic landscape from red kites to reptiles and butterflies to bats.”
Councillor Ron Davies, cabinet member for regeneration and countryside, said: “This new business has benefited from the range of support available to start up businesses in rural areas of the county borough, and I would encourage more rural businesses to get in touch with the Rural Development Team to find out about the support that is available.
“Eco–explore’s professional ecologists collect valuable information, which contributes towards national wildlife surveys, local biodiversity action plans and conservation research at Cardiff University.”
