A Members’ Bill aimed at boosting the Welsh economy is to be considered by the National Assembly for Wales on Wednesday.
The proposal for an Enterprise (Wales) Bill has been put forward by South Wales East Tory AM Mohammad Asghar and has a stated aim to ensure that present and future Welsh governments take steps to make the Welsh economy more competitive.
Mr Asghar’s proposal was drawn in a Member’s Ballot held in November last year.
“This is the third bid for a Member’s Bill to be considered by this Assembly,” said Rosemary Butler AM, Presiding Officer of the National Assembly for Wales.
“A debate during Plenary provides Members with the opportunity to examine whether they believe such a law is required to improve the lives of the people of Wales.”
Mr Asghar, added: “This Bill is not just my Bill or a Conservative Bill. It is an enterprise Bill that will benefit new and existing businesses all across Wales.
“I aim to highlight and introduce new ways through which the Welsh Government can provide new and existing small and medium enterprises in Wales with a transparent and simple enterprise or start-up procedure and support. This is something many businessmen and businesswomen have claimed is a problem all across Wales.
“On Wednesday I will be providing Members with foreign examples which Wales should aspire to follow when it comes to business and enterprise.
“Countries that promote and support equality of opportunity for all with transparent targets provide a profound lesson we need to follow here in Wales.”
