New traditional cider launched in Crumlin after £12,000 grant

A Welsh brand of traditional ciders has been launched after a £12,000 grant from Caerphilly Council’s Rural Development Team.

Based in Crumlin, Hallets Real and Hallets Vintage have been developed by husband and wife team Andy and Annie Hallet.

Andy Hallett told marketing magazine The Drum: “Although cider has come some way in shedding its reputation as a drink for farmers or teenagers, many people still don’t recognise its potential as a real accompaniment to food, particularly artisan cheese.

“Through Hallets we hope to prove that, far from being wine’s cheap cousin, cider really can compete for a place on the table of even the most discerning of foodies.”

Cardiff-based Celf Creative created the branding for the drinks which will be targeted at high-end restaurants and gastropubs.
