Caerphilly-based housing association United Welsh has been awarded The Investors in People Gold award.
The business award recognises a company’s effort to look after its employees and ensure they are at their best.
United Welsh has held an Investors in People award for the last 15 years. During that time it has been regularly audited to ensure it maintains that standard. Its most recent found that it had exceeded that standard meaning a Gold award.
Achieving the Gold Standard demonstrates a company’s commitment to developing its people both for professional, managerial and personal reasons, it also demonstrates the commitment individuals give to their own development and the development of others.
Donna Howells, head of human resources at United Welsh said: “This is the ultimate accolade and we are thrilled that all members of the United Welsh team feel this way about our business. We do not wish to rest on our laurels and intend to continuously improve and deliver this level of satisfaction amongst staff, customers and stakeholders. This accreditation is key to our business objectives and ethos, and we will work hard to maintain this high standard.”
Earlier in the year United Welsh also achieved the Customer Service Excellence for customer service. CSE is the UK Government Standard and only a handful of organisations in Wales have achieved the award.
congratulations on winning your award it is just a pity you do not invest in your tenants as you do in yourselves.my daughter is one of your tenants and is living in a two bedroom house where she has to sleep downstairs as she has got two children girl aged 10 and a boy aged 14. despite many visits from your staff it just falls on deaf years.you would think in this day and age people should not have to live like this.
The above comment is indicative of many stories of these `PRIVATE` landlords ( Which is what they are). They use extensive public money on pet projects which have nothing to do with housing and again is indicative of `QWANGOs` which is what they are.
When such awards are given, in some sycophantic way,to these undeserving organisations who wear them like some badge of honour they devalue them in respect to those organisations who earn and deserve them. There is time bomb waiting to explode in the area of senior citizens accommodation in Caerphilly Borough Council area of operation, people living in totally unsuitable accommodation like Mr Pring`s family, and others, who are subject to `subjective` consideration by untrained and discriminatory individuals employed by these QUANGO`s to deal with such issue.
It is a borough wide disgrace and politicians at all levels need to get a grip of it, and, by applying pressure on these Private Landlords to do what their charter tells them to do, and, to work in the interest of their tenants, this would be difficult pressure for some politicians to apply because they have already ended up in bed with some of these organisations, groups they lead have taken financial benefits from them for pet projects, and are then reluctant, or find it impossible, to scrutinise the responibilities Housing Associations have to the public.
The Caerphilly council also have a responsibility to the citizens of Caerphilly borough in that they play an important role in ensuring tenants of housing associations are properly dealt with in relation to the housing Act, they too, are reluctant to scrutinise the work of housing associations because of their own cut backs in responsible staff, for instance, a transfer request from a tenant can take up to twelve months even before an officer of the council compiles a report on the application and submits it to the housing association, and in such cases tenants have to live in unsuitable and unsocial conditions in the meantime, it is, I contend, a social time bomb in respect to housing in this Borough, and probably elsewhere.
thanks dad ( your a legend )surely agree with you. also fencing around houses as a T shape rather than full fencing as they cannot budget ones with gates like bottom half of the street…
It is probably appropriate for United Welsh to respond to the comments made above regarding this story and the services we deliver.
