Caerphilly MP Wayne David has announced the winner of his annual Christmas card competition.

The winning design was chosen from hundreds of entries from school children across the Caerphilly constituency.

The winner and runners up are:

  • Overall winner with a prize of £100 and a trip to Westminster, from Years 3-6 is Brogan Mills of Park Primary School, Bargoed
  • The winner in Years 1-2 with a prize of £50 is Menna Lowe of Rhydri Primary School
  • The winner in Reception/Nursery Class and a prize of £50 is Shauna Hazelden of Llanfabon Infants School, Nelson
  • Mr David said: “I am truly impressed by the standard of the entries from across a wide range of nursery and primary schools in the constituency. The children of the Caerphilly area are certainly full of the Christmas spirit. The final decision was very hard but it was a pleasure to look through all the entries.

“Brogan’s drawing is currently in the process of being reproduced as my official Christmas card and will be sent to my friends and colleagues across the country and abroad.

“As the Shadow Europe Minister I will be sending a large number of cards right across Europe.

“I have been very impressed by the standard of the children’s work in my constituency and I have to pay tribute to the efforts made by everyone involved. My sincere thanks goes to all concerned for encouraging the children to take part.”
