Coleg Gwent performing arts students recently visited Stratford-upon-Avon to see Roald Dahl’s Matilda – and bumped into a famous face from Harry Potter
The classic novel, featuring a young girl with special powers and terrible parents, has been adapted for the stage by theatre and TV writer Dennis Kelly, with songs by composer and comedian Tim Minchin.
It is currently being performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Performing Arts Lecturer Anne Collins said: “Despite the freezing temperatures the group thoroughly enjoyed the heart-warming tale and fabulous performances made the long journey worthwhile.”
After the show students met actor David Bradley, known for playing Argus Filch in the Harry Potter films. The actor was in the audience and spent time after the show chatting to the Crosskeys Campus students.
Ms Collins said: “He was brilliant; a real gentleman. He kindly took time to chat to students which they thoroughly enjoyed.”
