A netball team have been crowned Welsh under 18 Schools Champions in the prestigious Presidents Cup.

The team from Coleg Gwent Crosskeys Campus, on Risca Road, took the competition by storm, defeating all of the seven other county representative teams, beating Afon Nedd Tawe in the final, 7 goals to 6 to secure the title.

WINNERS: Team from Crosskeys Campus become champions again

Their success on Sunday follows their success in the Urdd Under 18 Netball Championships earlier on in the season.

Coach Emma Hurley said the victory was a good start to a busy week for the team who faced Bridgewater College in the quarterfinals of the British Colleges Plate Competition last night and compete at the British Colleges Sport Championships in Bath at the weekend.

She added: “I was delighted with the positive attitude the girls showed and their commitment to their netball. Last year we were third and it was eight years ago we last won this title. This weekend will be an even tougher challenge.”
