News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:00, Monday May 14th, 2012.

Mererid Hopwood

Bargoed Library is to welcome well-known Welsh poet and author Mererid Hopwood on Tuesday May 15.

As part of the forthcoming Literacy Olympics activities, organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council, Mererid will visit Bargoed on Tuesday May 15 at 5.30pm.

After spending the day working with local school children, the evening will see families trying their hand at creative writing under the expert guidance of Mererid. Lasting memories are sure to be created at this event.

David Phenis, the council’s community development manager, said: “The aim of the event is to promote the importance of parental involvement in literacy. Encouraging families to visit libraries in their local area and access the wide range of services available is a key priority for the authority, we hope to instil the thirst for learning into both the youth and families of the Caerphilly County Borough.”

The fun filled evening is free and requires no booking. For further information about this event please contact the library on 01443 864714.

What a user friendly time, when no one turns up it`ll be an excuse not to do it again.
