Ysgol Gymraeg Caerffili pupils get involved with the council's Big Spring Clean

Pupils from Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Caerffili have been clearing litter as part of a council volunteer scheme.

Children from the school’s Eco Council have litter picking at Caerphilly town’s Virginia Park, where they collected seven bags of litter, and at Morgan Jones Park where, alongside the council’s parks team, they collected six bags of litter.

Delyth Owen, Eco Coordinator at Ysgol Gymraeg Caerffili, said: “Our pupils have shown so much enthusiasm in helping to make our area an even cleaner and greener place – da iawn pawb.”

Throughout May, Caerphilly County Borough Council is encouraging schools, residents and community groups to grab their litter pickers, spades and wheelbarrows and join forces with the council for The Big Spring Clean 2012.

Litter pickers and refuse sacks are available for any groups or schools wishing to organise a clean up – the council will also arrange to collect the litter collected following the clean up.
