Coleg Gwent students have been recognised for their efforts to stamp out racism in a competition run by educational anti-racism charity, Show Racism the Red Card.
Show Racism the Red Card works with professional footballers to educate against racism. The charity also runs an annual schools competition inviting anti-racism themed artwork, poetry, media and t-shirt designs.
Independent Living Skills students (ILS) based at Crosskeys campus were awarded a participation certificate and 20 t-shirts for their entry, featuring a wall display for the competition and a group-composed poem.
Student John Fraser Natale, aged 16, also designed a t-shirt featuring the words ‘sport has a way of uniting us – together as one’ and ‘Kick out racism – all the same together inside’.
ILS Tutor Victoria English, said: “I am thrilled that the students’ hard work was recognised on such an important issue.”
