A substance misuse service which has helped an estimated 3,500 youngsters in the last 12 months is looking for volunteers.
DAYS (Drug and Alcohol Youth Support), formally known as the CRI Young Persons Substance Misuse Service, supports youngsters aged between ten and 18 through outreach sessions and workshops.
Volunteers will be supported by full training and will help improve the lives of youngsters between the ages of ten and 18 across Caerphilly County Borough and Blaenau Gwent.
Sandra Viles, team leader for the service, said: “Volunteers are a crucial part of our service and enable us to take important information about drug and alcohol misuse and the issues it can cause out across the Caerphilly borough and Blaenau Gwent.
“With volunteer help we are able to reach many more young people and we ask that anyone who feels they can give time and effort to helping us do this please get in touch now.
“This is a very rewarding service to work with and volunteers can be sure that through their efforts they are really making a difference to young people’s lives.”
All volunteers with DAYS will be asked to complete a short training course of just four hours a week for six weeks during which they will be given information about alcohol and drugs, setting boundaries and maintaining confidentiality, harm reduction and engaging young people successfully.
