Peter’s announce new pie flavour chosen by public

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:35, Friday July 27th, 2012.

Bedwas-based Peter’s Pies has announced a new flavour chosen by members of the public.

An online poll was combined with views from visitors at this year’s Royal Welsh Show for cheese, ham, leek and potato to be named the new pie.

Peter’s Chief ‘Pieologist’, David Jackson, who creates Peter’s bakery recipes said: “We wanted to create a pie that was truly Welsh in flavour. From the best Welsh ales to world-famous Welsh lamb, Pembrokeshire potatoes and of course, Welsh leeks; Wales has wonderful food in abundance.

“The Royal Welsh Show is a celebration of everything that’s great about Wales and our agricultural heritage, as well as a fantastic showcase for the best of Welsh food and drink; so who better to choose their favourite Welsh pie filling than the audience here this week?”

Clare Morgan, Marketing Controller at Peter’s said: “We’ve really enjoyed speaking to visitors at this week’s show and finding out what people think of our Welsh recipes. The Cheese, Ham, Leek and Potato pie is set to be one of our tastiest yet!”

The new pie will be on shelves in the autumn.
