Caerphilly Council urges Pride in Your Place entries for 2012 awards

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 13:00, Thursday August 9th, 2012.

Caerphilly County Borough Council is urging schools, community groups, businesses and individuals to enter its Pride in Your Place Awards for 2012.

The council-run awards are an opportunity to publically acknowledge those who make Caerphilly County Borough a better and greener place to live.

The inaugural awards last year saw Ysgol y Lawnt in Rhymney collecting the top prize.

There are 11 categories overall and each category winner will receive a cash prize of £500 and be eligible for the prestigious overall winner award.

All residents, schools, businesses and community groups within the area are encouraged to enter the competition, before the deadline of Friday October 5, 2012.

An independent panel will assess all applications and those short-listed will be invited to an award evening on the November 23.

SEDA, a major international packaging company with a base near Blackwood has agreed to be a key sponsor for this year’s ‘Pride in your Place’ awards.
