An Indian restaurant has been highly commended by politicians in Westminster as part of an MPs’ award.
Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, nominated Castle Gate Indian Restaurant, on Castle Views, for the Tiffin Cup Parliamentary Award. The annual award is given to outstanding South-East Asian restaurants who achieve excellence in their cuisine.
Although the Castle Gate Indian Restaurant didn’t win the award, the restaurant was “commended” by the judges for their high standard.
Mr David visited the restaurant and presented Ashraful Haquq and Kamran Rajen Hussin with a framed certificate and a Tiffin Cup Chef’s Hat and Jacket for their Head Chef, Monsur Ahmed.
He said: “I am delighted that the Castle Gate Indian Restaurant was commended in this way.
“As a customer of the Castle Gate myself, I am always impressed by the consistently high standard achieved by the restaurant. The judges of the Tiffin Cup Award obviously agreed with me and found the food to be of a very high standard.”
