Brothers Shane Jones (left) and John Jones from Pontllanfraith have each had their ASBO extended

Two brothers renowned for their abusive drunken behaviour have had their Antisocial Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) extended.

John Jones, 36, and Shane Jones, 25, both of Maindee Road, Cwmfelinfach, but orginally from Pontllanfraith, were given two-year ASBOs by Caerphilly Magistrates in 2010 after a series of antisocial incidents in Pontllanfraith and other areas of the county borough.

The brother were often abusive, threatening and aggressive to others, often while drunk.

At Abergavenny Magistrates Court recently, the ASBOs for the men were extended until 2014.

The Jones’ ASBOs ban the pair from the following in any part of Caerphilly County Borough.
Shouting, swearing or causing harassment, alarm or distress to any person in England or Wales
Being drunk in any public place.
Consuming alcohol or having an open container of alcohol in a public place, save for licensed premises.
Entering the area known as Blackwood bus station or the Market Place, Blackwood.

Cllr David Poole, cabinet member for community and leisure services, said: “The gaining of the initial orders has had a positive impact upon the community, and it is important that we have the tools at our disposal to help ensure that this continues to improve, therefore I greatly welcome the extension of these Antisocial Behaviour Orders.

“We will not tolerate anti-social behaviour in our communities, and will continue to work with our partners to take action against any individuals that are behaving in an anti-social way.”

PC Gareth Jones, Blackwood’s crime and disorder reduction officer, said: “The application for these orders have been a priority for the Neighbourhood Policing Team at Blackwood and the Safer Caerphilly Community Safety Partnership. The positive outcome in gaining these orders shows what can be achieved by the police working in partnership.

“I hope this sends out a clear message that acts of anti-social behaviour by a minority of people that affect the wider community will not be tolerated and will be appropriately dealt with. I hope the gaining of these orders also reassures the communities we serve.”

What a load of rubbish! They are often in blackwood bus station, being drunk and abusive. It's just a cop out, asbo's do nothing unless there are consequences for not abiding by them.

Can they also be made to wear bags over their heads? What a hideous pair of creatures. Who do they think they are? Drunken, antisocial and extremely ugly.

Some of the above comments are not worthy of reasonably minded people.

The fact that these two individuals have little repect for others, or, for themselves it would appear, is no good reason to descend into the same cesspit of degradation of hauling abuse at them.

I am glad to see that Councillor David Poole has declared that such behaviour as demonstrated by these two brothers will not be tolerated anywhere in the borough, so, perhaps Caerphilly town after dark may be next for police action????? but, there again, he would have to gain the support of Gwent Police to do so, and that may more difficult.

Surely that should be hurling rather than hauling? Such a furtive imagination with cesspits of hauliers no less. Still a head in the clouds doesn't augur well for those of us who prefer to keep our feet on the ground.

In America they publish pictures of addicts at the point of arrest over a course of time. In effect charting their decline as a means of deterrent. You might well wonder whether the two individuals pictured are aware of just how low they have become and if not then perhaps they should be.

Apologies to Gollum, I hope the comparison wasn't too harsh and you still have your precious lol :p

Helen: shooting the messenger my dear: Like work place assessments on individuals, your comments says more about the writer than the subject.

    ASBO EXTENDED!
The one on the right has been causing trouble in the valley's for years and years. I thought the whole point of an ASBO was that if they got in to more trouble they would be arrested. Seem that the police in Blackwood are just as afraid of this pair as they were Rondney Peplar too.
So glad I moved from the Valley's with it's scum an all.

On the 5th of September 2012 Shane Jones was on the 56 bus from Cwmfelin to Blackwood swearing and clearly drunk. I was on my way home from College as Wednesdays are half days. It was around 1.30 pm and Jones wasn't shy about expressing his views on the very full bus stating "fucking hell drive, it's fucking full on here en it!" He then proceeded to sit next to me and my friends at the back of the bus. After one waft of acetic acid on his breath I knew for sure then he was drunk. He was accompanied by two young girls around the age of 18 and all three continued to swear loudly to each other and continued to emphasis who annoyed they were at the full bus. Shane actually asked me and my friends if we had and alcohol or weed in our bags that we could give him. He made us feel on edge. There was another man sat next to him with whom he discussed court dates with and prison sentences (I'm not entirely sure of the details as I wasn't listening). This man had been swigging from a bottle concealed in his bag, which, after Jones asked what it was and drank some himself, became apparent that it was Strongbow. I hope this account is helpful – A concerned student.
