Closures to bus stops for ongoing regeneration of Bargoed

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:00, Sunday September 9th, 2012.

From Monday September 10, all bus stops on Hanbury Square, Bargoed will be taken out of use and a replacement bus stop outside Bargoed Post Office will be used.

The temporary bus stop closure is to accommodate redevelopment work by Caerphilly County Borough Council.

On Saturdays and Sundays, Hanbury Road and High Street will also be closed. The buses which normally operate through Bargoed on routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 50, C18 and X38 will be unable to serve bus stops at Royal Square and/or The Plasnewydd. Monday – Friday they will continue to serve these stops as usual.

Cllr Tom Williams, cabinet member responsible for highways, transportation and engineering, said: “These temporary changes to the bus system will take place so that we can improve the public transport facilities in Bargoed which will hugely benefit the town in the long term. Once completed, the work to Hanbury Square and Hanbury Road will be integral in providing easy access routes for shoppers who visit this vibrant town.”

On all days, buses that currently use Bargoed Interchange will continue to stop there.

Caerphilly County Borough Council apoligises for any inconvenience caused.
