Funding available from Caerphilly Council for sports club improvements

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:00, Wednesday September 12th, 2012.

Sports clubs are being encouraged to apply for funding for improvements and expansion from Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Clubs will be selected for the Community Chest Funding by the council on the strength of applications.

The local authority has said this will ensure the biggest impact is made to chosen clubs chosen.

Cllr Dave Poole, cabinet member responsible for community and leisure services, said: “I would encourage all sports clubs in the county borough to apply for this funding. Recipients of the grant will be integral in encouraging more people to participate in sport, so that our residents grow to be healthier and happier through active lifestyles.”

Twelve clubs in total will receive support and will be invited to an evening in Glamorgan Sports Park, Treforest, to learn what development support they will be given.

The closing date for applications is Friday September 21.
