A personal assistant from Caerphilly has been named PA of the year.

Pam Page, PA to the directors at Crumlin family firm Brace’s, has been named Wales Park Plaza PA of the Year.

Mrs Page, who juggles the role of PA to the three directors of Brace’s, has worked for the fmily company for eight years. She is also the PA to Colin Brace, the company’s 90-year-old chairman.

Grandmother of two Pam, from Caerphilly, was nominated by sales and marketing director Scott Richardson and was one of five finalists shortlisted in the awards.

She said: “I am absolutely delighted to win this award. It is really humbling to be recognised in this way. I love my job and it’s never a chore going to work. I feel very proud and it’s great to get recognition. What is so refreshing about working for a family-run business is that you can make a decision around a table and act upon it the next day.

“I have fabulous bosses and we get on so well. They keep me involved in terms of what is going on in the business as well as future plans.”

The PA accepted her award recently at a ceremony at Cardiff’s Park Plaza hotel.

Scott Richardson said: “Pam demonstrates a continuous understanding of the management team’s objectives as well as those of Brace’s customers. She is an invaluable member of the team. She has an excellent business overview and is a confidante to many, which has always been key to bolstering high staff morale.

“Her pro-active attitude always has a positive impact on the business. Her tireless and infectious enthusiasm and upbeat sense of humour provide a breath of fresh air in a fast-paced industry and a fiercely competitive market.”

As part of her award Pam will be offered a bespoke package worth £5,000 from Pitman Training towards an executive Plus Diploma, and a weekend break at any European Park Plaza Hotel.

Caroline Sims, sales and marketing director at Park Plaza, said: “In these difficult times, we received a great number of entries – making my job of judging and shortlisting very difficult. This award is all about rewarding and celebrating excellence and this is exactly what this annual event does.”
