Three Caerphilly Council employees will be swapping their office attire for running shoes in a few weeks time when they tackle the Cardiff Half Marathon in aid of Ty Hafan.

Steve Pugh, Hayley Lancaster and Sarena Hughes all work in the council’s Communication Team and are running the 13 miles on October 14 to raise money for Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice – one of the Mayor’s charity appeals this year.

The trio have been pounding the streets over recent months in order to get fit ready for the big day, but they still have some reservations.

Steve said: “We all egged each other on to tackle the half marathon initially, but that was before the training started, so there have been a few blisters and sore muscles since then.”

Hayley added: “We wanted to do our bit to raise money for this excellent cause and represent Caerphilly council too.

“We are now counting down to the big day and have set up a ‘Just Giving’ page to help raise funds, we would welcome any donation, no matter how small as every penny will be put to good use helping families at Ty Hafan,” said Sarena.
