Councillors are to discuss a raft of changes to leisure services across Caerphilly County Borough.
Members of the council’s Regeneration and Environment Scrutiny Committee will meet today to discuss the spending plans for the current year.
Improvements include:
- An indoor 3G training surface at New Tredegar Leisure Centre.
- Interactive water features, play zone and slides for the pool at Cefn Fforest Leisure Centre.
- A modular changing room to bring the sports field at the former Bedwellty School back into use.
- Tennis courts at Risca Leisure Centre converted into a floodlit 3G playing surface.
- Power plates installed at Newbridge, Pontllanfraith and Risca Leisure Centres.
Cllr David Poole, cabinet member for community and leisure said: “Our sports and recreation facilities play an important part in getting people active in the borough, and it is important that these facilities are maintained to the highest standard to ensure an unrivalled customer experience.
“The current suggestions aim to ensure significant improvements across the borough, benefiting current users of these facilities, and encouraging in-active people to get involved in physical activity in order to improve their health and well-being.”
In addition to the proposals, overall improvements to the buildings at Newbridge and Risca Leisure Centres are also planned.
