Army Cadets help clean-up at Hengoed Chapel

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:40, Friday November 9th, 2012.

Two Army Cadets gave up their time and volunteered to help clean-up war graves at Hengoed Chapel last week.

The cadets helped with the clean-up as part of their training.

Cadets Adam Felton and Jack Holmes from Cascade Detachment, Gwent and Powys Army Cadet Force took part in the clean up with Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The cadets helped by cutting grass around the graves, cleaning the headstones and removing litter and weeds from the graveyard in general.

Cllr Dave Poole, cabinet member for community and leisure services, said: “With Remembrance Day approaching these graves truly deserved sprucing up, along with the rest of the graveyard which received some attention from the cleansing team.

“It is important for us to keep all areas of the county borough clean and beautiful and I would like to thank the two cadets for working in partnership with us to improve the look and feel of their community.”
