Gwent Police and Crime Commissioner Ian Johnston attended the Annual General Meeting of the Senghenydd Youth Drop-In Centre (SYDIC) on Monday night.
During his election campaign the Commissioner viewed a presentation on the work of the Drop-in Centre and was impressed by the range of activities it offers to young people.
The centre provides a range of services and activities for young people, 12 hours a day on most days of the week. These activities include out-of-school activities, drugs and alcohol advice, guidance and support. It also provides performance and visual arts and crafts including dance, music, pottery, painting and poetry.
Mr Johnston said: “The SYDIC is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when the community pulls together to engage with young people.
“I appreciate the financial difficulties and challenges they face and at the AGM I was pleased to give them my commitment to help ensure the excellent work carried out at the centre continues.”
Good. Now nip up to Bargoed and see if you can sort the spate of burglaries which have been committed.
