Cefn Fforest and Pengam Eco-Park has been awarded a prestigious Green Flag Community Award by Keep Wales Tidy.
The award presented by the Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development, John Griffiths AM on November 22, recognises high quality green spaces managed by voluntary and community groups and forms part of the Green Flag Award scheme that sets a national standard for quality parks and green spaces.
Cefn Forest and Pengam Eco-Park is run in partnership with Caerphilly County Borough Council, the Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations, Groundwork Caerphilly and Friends of the Eco-Park and is Wales’ only community run Eco-Park.
Cllr David Poole, cabinet member for community and leisure services, said: “Our borough has a wide and varied range of green spaces, and it is wonderful to see the hard work of community groups and partnerships with the council being commended.”
