Lansbury Park parents get online

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:00, Thursday December 20th, 2012.

Finance Minister Jane Hutt paid a visit to Lansbury Park in Caerphilly on Wednesday to find out how the internet is helping parents.

During a visit to Lansbury Park’s Parent Network Group, Ms Hutt met with some young parents who were attending a session on using the internet.

Jane Hutt said: “If children have access to the internet they are more likely to do better at school but they have to have the support of their parents and teachers to access the internet safely.

“The class at Lansbury Park is a good example of how educating parents about what’s available on the internet can help them support their children online.

“It’s great to see how Communities 2.0’s ‘Digital December’ tools and tips can help the class enjoy fun online activities together.

“It also helps parents develop their skills so they can save money on gifts bought online and help ensure their children stay safe online.”
