Arriva Trains Wales has announced the appointment of a new managing director.
Ian Bullock take on the role with immediate effect and replaces Tim Bell who has been seconded to the Arriva UK Trains division’s franchise bidding team.
Mr Bullock was previously Arriva Trains Wales’ Customer Service Director, a role he has had since December 2003.
He said: “I look forward to continuing to work closely with the team at ATW and the Welsh Government, and to ensuring we continue to deliver the highest possible standards of service to our customers.”
The new MD will report to Steve Murphy, chief operating officer of Arriva UK Trains.
Mr Murphy said: “Ian has been a member of the Arriva Trains Wales executive team since the franchise began in 2003. He has made a valuable contribution to the success of the Arriva businesses in a range of roles, and has a wealth of experience and skills that will ensure the business continues to deliver the level of service our customers expect and deserve.”
A new customer service director appointment will be made and announced in due course.
Interesting that the new MD is a former customer-services manager. Perhaps he will now do something about those poor passengers on the Ebbw Vale line who are not being provivided with stops that they used to have before the line was Beechingised. Perhaps he will also ensure we have light-rail trains suitable for the 21st century – able to serve villages and towns remote from the present lines – rather than trains which are no more than London-rejects and which are incapable of departing from what is really a mid-19th century coal-hauling system.
