Lewis School Pengam is ‘in SINC’ with the community

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:00, Tuesday February 19th, 2013.

A new project is being piloted at Lewis School Pengam this month, which will see pupils and people from the community joining together to try their hand at a number of activities.

The project, which has been rescheduled due to the bad weather in January, will be piloted on Tuesday February 26 at 6pm.

Schools in the Community (SINC), will host an open evening at Lewis School Pengam for the community to come together and have a go at a range of activities and sports, with everything from animation to touch rugby on offer.

SINC is being delivered in partnership by Caerphilly County Borough Council, Lewis School Pengam, Sport Caerphilly, Ystrad Mynach College, The Caerphilly County Borough Parent Network and Communities First.

  • A new intergenerational club will launch at Blackwood Comprehensive School on March 5, following in the footsteps of other schools, such as Lewis School Pengam club.

The intergenerational clubs have been set up to bridge the gap between the young and old people living in Caerphilly County Borough. The new Blackwood Comprehensive club will allow older members of the community to dine with pupils from the school and to take part in activities every fortnight.
