Caerphilly-born TV presenter, Matt Johnson has shown his support for Red Nose Day 2013 by paying a visit to local project, Track 2000, to experience first-hand the work done by Comic Relief in Wales.

Matt, presenter of This Morning’s the Hub, visited Track 2000, a community-based charity that works to alleviate poverty within Cardiff and the Vale by reusing and recycling household furniture.

Tony Crocker, managing director of Track 2000, said: “We are extremely grateful to Comic Relief for their grant. It has allowed us to raise awareness on the importance of waste reuse, passing on vital resources to more individuals, families and small community groups who are socially disadvantaged, improving their quality of life.”

While at the project, Matt got stuck in and helped volunteers, Sean and Steve make a drop off to a local family, who due to low income were unable to completely furnish their home, receiving a three piece suite from the project.

Matt said: “It’s been great to come back to Cardiff and see first hand how Comic Relief money is being spent in Wales. The work they are doing here at Track is amazing and it is the money you raise that will help projects like this to continue to help disadvantaged people across the UK and Africa.”

Red Nose Day 2013 is on Friday March 15.
