Two prisoners who went on the run after absconding from a South Gloucestershire Open prison are now back behind bars.

Stephen Rees, aged 31, and Liam Ahearne, aged 24, absconded from HMP Leyhill at around 9pm on Wednesday January 30, 2013. Ahearne was serving an indeterminate sentence for aggravated burglary and Rees for wounding.

Police have said Rees was arrested on Friday February 22 and Ahearne was arrested in the Cardiff area on February 28.

Both were believed to have links with the south west of England and with the Merthyr, Rhymney Valley, Blackwood, Markham and Bargoed areas.
