Services run by Glamorgan Bus in the Caerphilly basin area have been replaced after the company told the council it was closing.

Replacement bus services have been secured at short notice by Caerphilly County Borough Council and Sunday March 3, 2013, Glamorgan Bus will no longer be operating bus services in the area.

Cllr Tom Williams, cabinet member for highways, transportation and engineering, said: “I am pleased that we have been able to quickly work to secure replacement services for these routes despite the short notice and budget limitations we have faced. Our residents who rely on public transport to get out and about and access the wonderful town centres, leisure facilities and countryside that our county borough offers are now able to continue to do so.”

From Monday March 4 the following changes to services will occur:
The G service which runs between Caerphilly to Churchill Park will be provided by Stagecoach. The timetable will be similar but passengers are encouraged to check early morning journeys.

The H service between Caerphilly to Graig-y-Rhacca will now be provided by Harris Coaches. There will be no changes to the previous route or timetable.

The J service between Caerphilly to Rudry will undertake several changes. The 7.15am from Caerphilly and the 1830 from Rudry will be withdrawn. The 1715 and 1815 journeys from Caerphilly and the 7.25am and 5.30pm journeys from Rudry will continue to run on a service provided by Stagecoach. All other journeys throughout the day will be provided by connect2 to a revised timetable.

The K service between Caerphilly to Caledfryn will be provided by Stagecoach to a similar timetable but passengers should check early morning and afternoon journeys, in particular the 5.15pm journey from Caerphilly will operate 30 minutes later in order to better connect with trains arriving from Cardiff. Also buses will operate via Hendredenny on journeys towards Caerphilly only. Passengers boarding the bus at Caerphilly can remain on the bus when it reaches Caledfryn and alight at Hendredenny when the bus calls there on its return journey.

The L service between Caerphilly and Bryncenydd will be provided by connect2 and will operate 10 minutes earlier throughout. Buses will operate via Castle Street to serve stops at Southgate Square and Castle Entrance.
