Police have released this CCTV image of missing Abertridwr man Trevor Elias in the run-up to the anniversary of his disappearance.

The CCTV image of Mr Elias, taken on April 6, 2012, is the last confirmed sighting of him.

On Thursday April 5, 2012, Mr Elias, known locally for his love of horse racing and unique sense of humour, was seen outside the Leigh Club in Senghenydd between 11.15pm and 12.15am and before that had been at The Buffs Club on Abertridwr Square

He was seen on CCTV at 12.23am on Friday April 6 walking passed the Cenotaph in Senghenydd and heading down Commercial Street in the direction of Abertridwr. It is also known that two women were seen walking ahead of Mr Elias on Commercial Street toward Senghenydd Square at approximately 12.20am and these still haven’t been identified. It is also believed that three vehicles and a man would also have passed Trevor as they came up Commercial Street heading toward Abertridwr.

Trevor was reported missing on Saturday April 7. He is described as being approximately 6ft tall, of very thin build, and has brown short hair. He wears glasses.

Local Neighbourhood Inspector Gareth Jones said: “One year on, we are continuing to conduct extensive enquiries to establish what has happened to Trevor. While the community have been very supportive we still need their help in trying to identify the people who may have seen Trevor that night.

“We believe that three vehicles passed him on the road and that others – two women walking ahead of him and one man who was walking in the opposite direction – may have seen him. We are also appealing to local residents to check their outbuildings and allotments for any signs that Trevor may have been there.

“Trevor’s family need to know what has happened to him and we are making all efforts to trace him.”

Police have said they will also be doing a leaflet drop in the area in the hope of finding Mr Elias.

Anyone who has any information, no matter how unimportant it may seem, is urged to ring 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
