UPDATE June 6th : Mr Evans is now up to number five in the internet poll

Labour’s Islwyn MP Chris Evans has been voted the 43rd sexiest MP on controversial website Sexymp.co.uk

The site has been in the news recntly and has faced accusations that it demeans politicians.

Caerphilly’s Wayne David has come in at number 596 out of 648 Mps while Dai Harvard, MP for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney is ranked 365th.

The website works by showing visitors photos of two MPs and asking them to click on the one they would rather sleep with.

The more ‘votes’ the MP gets, the further up the list they appear.

Writing on the website, its creator Francis Boulle said: “In addition to my wanting to create a fun and memorable tool to help the British public get to know their Members of Parliament, I thought it would be an interesting opportunity to hold the first ever parliamentary beauty contest and find out once and for all which MPs and Parties have the most sex-appeal.

“Although I fully expect this to offend some people, this was never my intention and I hope you will see the funny side.”

Prime Minister David Cameron is 179th while deputy prime minister Nick Clegg is 155th.

No offence intended but I don't find Chris Evans MP 'sexy' in the least. He is probably relieved to hear this!

This 'beauty contest' is another sign of the worrying state of our democracy. People seem to be more inclined to vote on rubbish like this than to cast their vote at elections. This is why our politicians, with some exceptions, are not of the same quality as they used to be.

Beauty is only skin deep and I wish people would take interest in the really important matter, which is what the politicians say and do rather than give a thought to how they look.

What a complete and utter waste of time.
