Thieves steal fence from Gelligaer Cemetery

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 10:01, Monday August 12th, 2013.

Thieves have stolen a newly installed fence from Gelligaer Cemetery.

The timber fence had been installed by Caerphilly County Borough Council following a public consultation enclose a waste disposal area.

Last month 22 metres of the fence were stolen and attempts were also made to remove two gates from the compound area, which left them in a state of disrepair. This the remaining fence has been removed.

Cllr David Poole, Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure Services, said: “I would urge anyone with any information regarding this theft to come forward. Cemeteries are places where our communities lay their loved ones to rest and should be treated with the utmost respect. We will endeavour to find the perpetrators of this heinous crime.”

If anyone has any information regarding this matter please contact the local Gwent Police on 101 or the cemeteries office at Caerphilly County Borough Council on 01495 235189.

What a terrible crime. I can't quite believe anyone would want to do such a thing. I bet the lefties will still want to give those responsible a en-suit prison cell, TV time, extensive menu choices, exercise equipment and a job whilst their locked up inside. That is of course, if they are indeed locked up and not given an ASBO or a few hours community service.

Trust a Righty to suggest this is the crime of the century.

Whoever is responsible for this theft, of fence posts and some wire, should, of course, be ashamed of themselves, but, to suggest it is a `heinous crime.” is totally disproportionate to other things which are happening in the Caerphilly CBC area. It happens to be `a bit of wood and a bit of wire`. let the police catch them and deal with them, get over it for goodness sake.

Now, when it comes to crooked Elected representative and Crooked Officers, paid for by a financially hard pressed public, (if and when such people are ever found to be so, wherever that may be in the country) then I agree that they should be locked up for a very long time without the trappings of comfort and luxury, and banned forever from employment involving trust and public funds.

I think all crime is disgusting and people who commit it receive little to no respect from me. As far as those "crooked Elected representative and Crooked Officers" go, I quite agree. If they have broken the law, throw the book at them no matter the crime. The only exceptions I would make are a few unpaid parking tickets etc…

Or, speeding offences Dean? Particularly when such offences already put a persons ability to earn a living at risk? Secret Lives and all that.

Hillary. Stalker? Stalker? Me? no such thing, I simply have a view on the same things in our community which Dean forms a view on also, my views happen to conflict with his, whats wrong with that I say. All healthy debate, all expressions of personal beliefs, and a healthy variety of opinions.

It would really be a dull world if we were all sycophantic morons, would`nt it??
