Green fingered pupils from Hengoed Primary School have been awarded the Eco School Green Flag Award for their environmental efforts.
Cllr Phil Bevan, cabinet member for education, leisure and lifelong learning said: “I am delighted that so many of the county borough’s schools have really taken this environmental scheme to heart.
“Hengoed Primary have done a fantastic job in achieving this impressive award.”
For it to gain Eco Schools Green Flag status the school had to set up a pupil-led ‘eco committee,’ complete an environmental review and plan how to improve sustainability at the school.
Pupil Connor Webb said: “I couldn’t believe that we got it. I was so excited. We had lots of help from people from the community.”
