An Oakdale man has raised more than £1,600 for Cancer Research Wales by taking part in a 100-mile cycle ride.
Paul Jones, 44, took part in the London-Surrey ride last month and was among 20,000 cyclists taking part in the event.
Paul, a sales director originally from Bedwas, chose to support Cancer Research Wales because his wife works at Velindre, where the charity has its headquarters and labs, and his uncle has recently received treatment there.
He said: “Everyone knows someone who is affected by cancer, which is why I think Cancer Research Wales is such a worthwhile cause to support.
“My fundraising goal was originally £500.”
To prepare for the ride, Paul woke everyday at 4.30am to go training and was cycling and hill climbing for up to 11 hours a week.
