Two arrested after “disorder” at the Wheatsheaf pub in Caerphilly town

Two men were arrested after a fight broke out at the Wheatsheaf Hotel in Caerphilly town.

A 43-year-old Caerphilly man was arrested and charged with assault and resisting arrest. Police said an unknown substance was also recovered and has been sent for chemical analysis.

Posting on Facebook, eyewitnesses reported a large police response to the January 9 incident.

A spokesman for Gwent Police said: “Gwent Police were called to reports of disorder at the Wheatsheaf Hotel, Market Street Caerphilly at approximately 11pm on January 9.

“Officers attended and two men, a 43-year-old and a 25-year-old from the Caerphilly area were arrested on suspicion of assaulting policing officers and resisting arrest.

“An unknown substance was also recovered and has been sent for chemical analysis. The 43-year-old man has since been charged with assault and resisting arrest. The 25 year old has been bailed pending further enquiries.”

    IT WAS NO FIGHT IN THE PUB!!!!!!!!! Only people that got hit was the people getting locked up i was there!!! The police batterd people with batons and sprayed about 5 tins of cs
