Seventeen people were prosecuted for fly-tipping last year by Caerphilly County Borough Council.
In total, the council’s Environmental Health team interviewed 50 people in relation to waste-related offences.
Cllr David Poole, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Community, said: “Last year the Council’s Environmental Health team received 2,957 reports of illegal tipping.
“These reports are taken extremely seriously, and illicitly tipped waste is checked to see if it can be traced back to the person who has dumped it.
“The message is clear – don’t dump your waste.
“If your household items are being collected, take responsibility and ensure the waste carrier is reputable and you know where the waste is being taken.”
This isn't declaring war, the repercussions for littering are not strong enough!
This is the equivalent of deciding to fight a war but turning up with paint ball guns.
If you are going to 'declare war' on fly tippers, at least have power and force behind you.
