Appeal after break-in at Parc Cwm Darran, near Bargoed

Police are appealing for information following a break-in at Parc Cwm Darren, Bargoed.

A large number of fencing and gating were stolen during the raid which is believed to have happened between 6.55pm and 7.30pm on Friday February 7.

A large white panel van (similar to a Ford Transit or Iveco) was seen driving into Parc Cwm Darren. There were three men in the van all wearing hoodies.

A number of items were stolen including those used to construct footpaths and bridleways including:

  • Four pairs of small hoops (unmeshed) – from a kissing gate hoops kit
  • Five pairs of large hoops (meshed) for Radar gates -a mobility kissing gate
  • One Gate Leaf for Milton Keynes two- way gate
  • Ten short legs for Centre Wire Stiles incorporating Dog Stile
  • One Dog Latch (wooden) – dog latch for side of a gate
  • Four Brown Posts 7 in square x 2.4 metres long
  • Three Green Posts 7 in  square x 2.4 metres long
  • Two sleepers 10 in x 5 in
  • One sleeper 7in x 5in
  • Four 10ft steel fieldgates
  • One 12ft  steel fieldgates
  • Two Timber Gates 5ft  3in
  • Three Woodstock Kissing Gates

Rhymney Sergeant Roy Bell said: “The products made at this site benefit the community greatly so such a substantial theft will have an impact on the wider community and environment.

“The investigation is on going and we are looking at all lines of enquiry including CCTV but we would like to appeal for anyone with information to call us on 101 and quote log number 157 8/2/2014.”
