Caerphilly County Borough Council’s catering team has been nominated for four awards by the Local Authorities Caters Association (LACA).

The LACA awards honours individuals and teams of people who make a difference in school catering.

Among the award nominationsfor the service are the Welsh Sustainability Award, which recognises a team’s ability to manage waste and recycling, and the Welsh Catering Management Award, which recognises outstanding contribution to local authority catering.

Abercarn Primary School has been nominated for the Welsh Primary School Catering Team Award while Marcia Lewis, manager of the council’s catering service, has been nominated for the Welsh Outstanding Achievement Award.

This award is the highest accolade awarded to an individual within education catering in Wales. It is awarded to the person who has, above all others, demonstrated outstanding levels of service and commitment and who has made an enormous contribution to the catering service.

Cllr David Poole, Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure Services, said: “I’d like to congratulate the Caerphilly Catering Team on their nominations for these prestigious awards. Their hard work and dedication is demonstrated by their high standards.”
