The A469 between New Tredegar and Pontlottyn is to remain closed for the foreseeable future.
The road was closed due to a landslip that burst a water culvert and caused crack in the road.
A spokesman from Caerphilly County Borough Council said: “The A469 between Pontlottyn and New Tredegar remains closed to traffic. A drainage survey has been completed this week and design work has commenced, however the topographical survey has been delayed due to the bad weather. Ground monitoring has continued and movement in the carriageway appears to have reduced significantly.
“Welsh Water are currently considering their options to address the water main problems at the site. The Council will continue to work closely with Welsh Water to agree a programme of works that will involve repairs to the water main, drainage and to the carriageway.
“Everyone involved is committed to resolving this issue as quickly as possible, but it is acknowledged that the road will remain closed for a number of weeks to accommodate the works. All efforts are being made to to reopen the road at the earliest practical opportunity.”
Pathetic excuses. I have to work outside in this weather so why can't the council and water board. Yet still nothing has been done to the road in weeks. What's the point in paying tax when the fat cats take the money and do nothing????
This is indeed a nuisence especially those wanting to get from Abertysswg to New tredegar, Shame the old road from Abertysswg to New tredegar [ends at top of Tredegar road] couldnt be re opened as this would be a great releif.
Having lived in New Tredegar for many years I'm fully aware that there is another possible route around the problem on the A469 this being the old railway line that runs between New Tredegar (end of Greenfield Street) and Abertysswg all it needs to work is for a couple of gates to be removed and light traffic could be using this route without delay.
