School pupils are to get first-hand experience of the judicial system when they take part in a mock trial.
Youngsters from St Cenydd School, in Trecenydd, will be taking part in specially written fictional case at Newport Magistrates’ Court on March 1.
Groups between the ages of 12 and 14 will take on the roles of lawyers, witnesses, magistrates, court staff and a defendant during the proceedings of the annual Magistrates’ Court Mock Trial Competition.
The competition, now in its 20th year, is organised by the Citizenship Foundation in partnership with the Magistrates’ Association and is designed for students to learn about the criminal justice system.
