Caerphilly residents urged to join Big Spring Clean

News | Gareth Hill | Published: 13:00, Monday March 24th, 2014.

Residents, community groups and schools are being encouraged to grab their litter pickers, spades and wheelbarrows and join forces with Caerphilly County Borough Council for its Big Spring Clean campaign.

Now in its third year, the Big Spring Clean campaign last year collected more than 49 tonnes of litter and fly-tipped waste during its three months.

Cllr David Poole said: “The Big Spring Clean is a great opportunity for residents, schools and community groups to celebrate all that our county borough has to offer, and also to work alongside us to make sure we all do our bit to ensure Caerphilly County Borough remains a clean, green and pleasant place to live, work and visit.”

Litter pickers and refuse sacks are available to residents and community groups wishing to get involved in the clean up.

To register an interest in getting involved, please call 01443 873 758. The council can also arrange for the litter to be collected following the clean ups.

I would much rather join a 'Caerphilly's Big Beat up the Litter Droppers' campaign.

After all, if no one drops rubbish, there's nothing to pick up.
